For my opening film I have decided to do a horror/thriller film and therefore an important factor to this is working out who and what age my film will be aimed at. I feel that we need to make sure we meet the needs for our certain target audience because we do not want to attract the wrong target audience because this could cause rapid decrease in our success. We've decided to make our target audience teens to young adults because thriller/horror films are often scary and have lots of intense moments which can sometime be inappropriate for younger viewers this is the reason as to why we've decided to do 16-24 year olds as our target audience. They will be able to really engage and understand the concept of the film while still enjoying the suspense and excitement you get from a horror/thriller film.

Typical Audience for Horror/thriller films:

The typical target audience for horror or thrillers are 18+ this is mainly because horrors/thrillers can be very violent and contain scenes of high intensity which are usually not appropriate for young children.

Horror/thriller films have very simple, intense shots such as close up and tracking shots to keep the audience watching and keep them entertained by creating an intense atmosphere.

My target audience:

I've decided to set my target audience from 16-24 year olds because i feel like 16 year olds are able to cope with the violent and intense scenes and also a lot of 16+ year olds are interested in watching horrors due to the thrill and excitement they contain, which is why we wanted a wider range for our target audience

I will be using lots of extreme close up shots and tracking shots to keep the audience on the edge of their seats and create more suspense. Ages 16+ will understand the suspense more clearly from this because they can really engage in the film and understand what is happening, because the characters are of the same age and the shots help to create the atmosphere.
